About Senecio Rowleyanus
Senecio Rowleyanus, also known as string of pearls/ String of beads, is a popular trailing succulent for its pendant stems, with pearl-like leaves. A fast grower which is easy to propagate from stems cuttings. Small white blooms in cooler months of the year.
How to care for Senecio Rowleyanus
Sun/Location: Like other soft succulents, String of pearls requires indirect bright sunlight to thrive. It can be placed outdoors in spring and fall to get full sunlight. Shade is required in summer to avoid sunburn. In winter, protection from frost is needed. The unique bead-like foliage makes String of Pearls an excellent choice as a trailing houseplant by a south-facing window.
Soil/Pot: Senecio succulents prefer the loose and well-drained cactus soil mix, adding additions such as perlite, grit, and sand that can improve drainage and help the root breathe well. The planter pot with a drainage hole is necessary.
Watering: String of Pearls is very sensitive to overwatering. Besides using a well-drainage soil mix and container with drainage holes, the best way of watering is the 'soak-and-dry method. Water deeply enough for water to run out of the drainage hole, then wait for the soil to fully dry before watering again.
